Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha Make July Highest Grosser of 2025

Although the trend of films becoming back-to-back blockbuster hits has slowed somewhat, it remains very much alive. And the happy collections at the box office in July 2025 have proved this fact. The record collections of Saiyaara and Mahavatar Narsimha released in July 2025 is the talk of the b-town!

The total collections for July soared to 1,430 Crore, surpassing February’s record of 1,245 Crore. February 2025 saw a surge thanks to Chavva, which released on 14th February 2025 and alone collected over 600 Crores—the biggest hit of 2025 so far. Subsequent releases couldn’t top this record until July.

Saiyaara

On 18th July 2025, Saiyaara released and smashed box office collections. The rom-com touched the hearts of the audience and left almost everyone teary-eyed. If you think only Gen-Z wept their eyes dry, you are wrong. Almost everyone cried. And that’s when you realize, it was just not a movie but a deeply emotional experience for anyone who has been in love.

It collected 19.6 Crores on the first day itself and was a widely debated topic on social media. Despite the social media chatter, Saiyaara went on to collect 392 Crores at the Box Office by the end of July, and became the second biggest hit film of 2025. Saiyaara is directed by Mohit Suri. It features Ahaan Pandey and Aneet Padda in their debut roles. The trailer has more than 75 Million views, so far.

Mahavatar Narsimha

On 25th July, another blockbuster hit, Mahavatar Narsimha was released. Mahavatar Narsimha is an Indian animated film that captured the hearts of the audience with its devotional tone.

The story picks up in the second half and unfolds at a pace that balances Prahald’s bhakti with Hirankashyap’s cruelty towards Vishnu bhakts. The intense animated scenes feel surreal, dramatic, and immersive.

With a total box office collection of 259 Crores in July, it went on to break the records of all animated films ever made in India. Thereby, making it the third biggest hit film in India, after Chavva and Saiyaara.

Although it was released in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi, the Hindi version alone accounted for  75% of the total collections. It is directed by Ashwin Kumar, produced by Kleem Productions, and marketed by Hombale Films.

Box Office Collections

The enormous success of these two films contributed to 45% of the total collections of Rs 1,430 Crore. Raising the bar of the cumulative box office collections in 2025 to Rs 7,175 Crore.

When compared to the box office collections of July 2024, this year the profit increased by 22%.

This in itself is an indicator that people are ready to return to cinema halls.  However, the films must connect with the audience on some level and be an experiential journey just like Chavva, Saiyaara, or Mahavatar Narsimha.

The OTT release date of these two films is highly anticipated, but the makers have not announced it. Stay tuned, we will share the details of OTT releases as soon as the makers announce them.

UPDATE: Both the films are available on OTT, you can find them on Netflix. Saiyaara released on 12th September 2025, while Mahavatar Narsimha released on 19th September 2025.
